Punting with a Difference!
For the first time in 5 years the weather let us down for our annual punting expedition - the skies may have been black but our spirits weren’t dampened!
In true Opendoorz fashion there was a plan B swiftly executed. With plenty of banter and frivolity the members and their guests were split into 4 teams (boy did we see those competitive streaks coming through!) and threw themselves into the games and tasks thrown at them...
This was an opportunity to get to know members from different groups and our guests – and what better way could there be than sticking a pair of tights on your head and racing to fill it with balloons!! Whether they were doing the conga, swapping clothes, searching for the person who travelled the furthest distance or the one with the highest heels everyone truly entered into the spirit and new friendships were duly formed.
The boys from SJP kindly donated boxed wines from the Rothschild Estate for our charity Sobell House. A game of ‘Bums & Boobs’ was hilarious with Simon Fisher from The Better Letter grasping his ‘bits’ until the bitter end. Congratulations to him and thanks to Mark Barclay for managing the crowd! A total of £145 was raised – watch out for news on future fundraising events…
Keeping dry under the marquee at the Cherwell Boathouse meant we had plenty of space and a stunning view to mix, mingle and build relationships – the flowing Pimms and a later BBQ kept us all sated and jolly.
“Thank you for a lovely evening – enjoyed the games, company and food and of course the drinkies! It was nice to meet everyone. Thank you again for organising it all”. Lorna Slee Guest

“Thank you very much for arranging the party last night. It was genius to have such a successful plan B up your sleeves. Even the drizzle couldn't dampen the Opendoorz spirits”. David Muir Bicester Member
