I enjoy the moment, never understood the difference between work and play I get a buzz form both. I love riding my motorcycle and spending time with my wife and our Labrador.
William Groves' reputation for quality was well-known and he was invited to join a team of masons working to rebuild St. Paul's Cathedral following the Great Fire of London. But it wasn't for another two generations that the business grew considerably. In 1904, Alfred Groves transformed the company, building a reputation as high-quality traditional builders. In 1914, his son Samuel took over the business, expanding it into what became the nation's leading timber merchant. Unfortunately, Dutch Elm disease struck in 1967, significantly reducing their supply of timber. This side of the business closed in 1983 and the company refocussed on its rich history of traditional building practice.
Today we specialise in the renovation, refurbishment and extension of traditional Cotswold properties, along with constructing quality new builds using traditional construction methods. Over time we've added a joinery workshop and DIY centre to help support commercial and domestic building projects in the area. We understand that property is personal. We converted stone Cotswold farm buildings to create the Alfred Groves Business Centre and so we know what it's like to live and work in period stone properties. We get to know our clients, so we can gain a clearer perspective and understand what you're looking for. We also offer in-depth consultations so we can discuss timescales, materials, design and costs.
From the start of the project, through to the completed build, we're here at every stage to manage the process and get beautiful results.
